Looking for feedback on a mini sauna design
I’m planning to build a mini sauna for a small space, something closer to a “bathroom sauna” than a traditional large Finnish sauna.
I’ve read Trumpkin’s sauna notes and I understand that the recommended minimum size for an “ideal” sauna is around 250 × 250 cm with a 260 cm ceiling, but that simply isn’t possible in my current house.
The space I have available is:
- 1.01 m wide
- 1.60 m deep
- 2.15 m high
I designed two layout variations that fit within these dimensions.
I’d really appreciate your feedback:
- Do you see any major design mistakes?
- Do you think a decent sauna experience is still achievable in such a small volume?
- Are the bench heights/layouts reasonable? NB : I'm 1.86m tall.
For the heater, I’m currently considering a 3.6 kW Narvi Minex. I also plan to install proper ventilation.
I attached the two layout sketches below. Which layout do you personally prefer between the two variants?
