Yesterday my uncle sat with me while I was driving and I swear… it felt like I was giving a driving test again. The entire time —
“Slow down, Brake, Turn there , idr dekho, udr dekho.”

Like nonstop commentary.

And it’s not like I was driving rashly or anything. Normal speed, proper control, full attention on the road. But the way he kept reacting, it felt like I was about to crash every 2 minutes 😭

What made it more frustrating was that half the things he was telling me, I had already noticed. I was already planning to slow down, already seeing the car ahead, already aware of the turn. But because he kept saying it out loud, it actually started distracting me more than helping.

At one point I genuinely felt more nervous because of him, not the traffic. I get that it probably comes from concern, especially with family. But why does it always turn into constant instructions? And the same people, when they’re driving, don’t like being told anything at all.

Is this just an “older generation” thing? Or does everyone do this when they’re not the one behind the wheel?

Curious if others deal with this too — and if you’re someone who does this, what are you actually thinking in that moment?
