Spent months doing cold calls, cold emails and client
meetings in a B2B sales role.
Here's what I learned that nobody talks about:
THE COLD EMAIL FORMULA THAT ACTUALLY WORKS:
Most cold emails fail because they lead with you,
not them. Fix this with 5 lines:
Line 1 — Specific observation about their business
Line 2 — Problem they probably have right now
Line 3 — One result you've delivered
Line 4 — Zero-risk ask (not "let's hop on a call")
Line 5 — Just your first name. Nothing else.
Example:
"Hey Sarah, noticed you just expanded to a second
location — congrats. Most founders at this stage
tell me consistent B2B outreach becomes really
hard to maintain. I helped a similar business book
11 meetings in 3 weeks with a simple sequence.
Want me to send it over?"
THE FOLLOW-UP SECRET:
80% of deals close between follow-up 2 and 5.
Most people give up after 1.
Your Day 30 message should be a breakup email:
"I've reached out a few times — I'll assume
the timing isn't right and won't follow up again.
If things change, I'm here."
This single email gets more replies than anything else.
I turned all of this into a full playbook with
Notion CRM included. Link in comments if anyone wants it.
