Hi, I am posting in hopes that someone could shine a light on this for me. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics, my grandparents would know more but somehow when I was about 15-16 years old (I'm 25 now) my mom was able to get me into debt with social security for about 15k, a few years back me and my grandfather talked to many people at social security explaining I would have been a minor, and on top of that I had been institutionalized in the state hospital for 2 years? With no access to internet or anything like that so I would not have been able to do it, however for whatever reason they still said I was responsible to pay it off.

Is there still a way I could get out of it? Or have my mom who insued the debt be responsible?

I'm trying to make a life for me and my partner and I just want to start out on a good note.
