Finance people of Reddit, help a fresher out before I start auditing my own CONFUSION !!
I’m a BBA student trying to break into finance internships, but I’m stuck in the classic “too many skills, no direction” loop.
As internet has convinced me I need Excel, accounting, valuation, Power BI, financial modeling, GST, Tally, CFA and probably Batman-level trauma before getting shortlisted anywhere; considering unemployment as a full time role !?
I am confused about: 1- What skills actually matter for a finance fresher?
2- What should I learn first?
3- Do I first pick a finance job role and then build skills around it?
4- How are freshers even getting internships rn?
I’ve had setbacks in the past and lost around 2 years already, so I’m trying to get things on track properly now — but I need direction & clarity.
If you’re already in finance or has already survived this phase, please drop advice/roadmap/resources that actually helped. And if any fresher here is currently doing a summer internship, please share how you made it happen :)
Any advice/experience shared would genuinely help !
