45 and been a nurse for 18 years. Background is medsurge, tele, and PACU. Started FNP a few years ago but had a couple life altering events and had to withdraw. Which in hindsight was the best thing I could've done for myself. Now I'm back to revisiting my options and I 100% know I do not want to work in urgent cares or primary offices so I'm considering adult gero. My question is my current pay is $51/hour and I still have student loans from my undergraduate. I'm in the Cincinnati area and don't really have any idea what the job market is right now for np's or if this is a smart career change me. Hoping for some constructive criticism and insight!
