I recently had biometrics done at Chennai. The process was pretty smooth but I would keep these points in mind.
- Though online it says you can carry mobile phones to VAC, the security at entrance asks you not to and also there are checks at multiple places which ensure that you don’t carry phones.
- There is a locker facility on the ground floor, you can place it there. The only problem is they do not accept anything except for cash and they don’t give change too. They just need 50rs notes. I know how it feels but it is what it is.
- If you have renewed your passport after booking a visa slot, you need to fill in new DS 160 with new passport details and also you cannot update new ds 160 confirmation number of visa scheduling site on your own. So make sure to carry both old and new ds 160 and both passports. Also carry photocopy of new passport. I don’t know why they need it. You can get the photocopy downstairs but just carry it.
Hmm otherwise, arrive 30 min prior. With visa appointment confirmation, ds 160 and passport. That’s pretty much. It took me 45 min in whole I guess.
