IWTL how to become ambitious, in my career

I’ve noticed a big shift in how I approach different parts of my life, and I’m trying to understand how to fix it.

In my early school years, I used to be very disciplined and driven academically. But sometime after my first year of college, that consistency and internal drive dropped off without me really noticing. I started caring less about academics and career growth.

At the same time, I got into fitness and that’s where things felt completely different. From my second year onward, I became extremely consistent with the gym. I tracked my nutrition carefully, kept learning about training, and stayed engaged even outside workout sessions. Progress became something I actively chased, and I stayed motivated even when results were slow.

What stands out to me is the difference in mindset. With fitness, I treated it like a long-term gamesor omething measurable, improvable, and worth showing up for every day. With academics and career, I’ve struggled to maintain that same level of focus and consistency.

Right now I’m interning in a devOps/cybersecurity role, and I want to rebuild that same discipline and drive but applied to my career.

Has anyone successfully transferred that kind of consistency or obsessive improvement mindset from one area (like fitness) into something like career or learning? How did you do it?
