Sorry if this is a silly question. I had an oil boiler in the basement that exhausted out of the chimney via this flue. Oil boiler is gone, replaced by a propane boiler that has its own pvc exhaust leaving this flue open/unused.
Can this flue be repurposed for a wood stove? What kind of changes would I be looking at?
I should mention the boiler’s propane inlet line runs along the bottom of the 1st floor joists. I would guess there’s a minimum distance that is required between a stove pipe and a gas line?
Not sure if it’s relevant, but the chimney has 2 flues- this one from the basement, and one from the first floor fireplace that has a pellet stove insert and associated piping.
I don’t plan on doing any of the piping/chimney work myself, just trying to understand if this is an option. Thanks!
