Beginning Band Teacher with Choir background
Hello! I just completed my master's in choral conducting and I am working towards my master's in education. I was recently offered a k-12 vocal and instrumental teacher of record position as a full-year paid internship in a very small rural school district for the upcoming school year. Only problem- I have never been in a band or orchestra class, and I did not take instrumental methods courses during my undergrad! I do have sufficient piano background as well as experience teaching guitar, vocal, and music theory private lessons, and have been teaching choir courses as a graduate assistant over the last two years. If anyone has insight as to what sources may be useful or what I can do to best prep for this position, that would be wonderful! Thanks!
