Hello

I am not a New York City teacher however I’ve been wanting to get my masters in teaching for early childhood. I was thinking about going back to my old college and getting my masters through there, but my dad sent me a post on Instagram about a masters program in the city that allows you to teach starting in September 2026 while earning your masters.

At first, I thought it was too good to be true, so I decided to look at the common section of the post. EVERYONE is saying not to do it. I don’t know how many of them are actually teachers though, and my plan is only to earn my masters through there and then look for work elsewhere. However, I came across a comment that basically made it seem like I would be stuck, teaching in the city for the rest of my life. And another comment told me I probably wouldn’t receive a paycheck until after two months…

I just want to know is it wise to do this program to get my masters and then leave. Would it even be possible? Is this a scam? Well I really have to battle some department to receive my paychecks? I really want to do teaching. It wasn’t my first career choice, but im willing to put in the work
