Hi all, I have had the pleasure of watching a group of baby/young squirrels grow up in our backyard, but this morning we noticed one has an injured leg. Not sure how well you can see but there’s exposed skin, but not bone. She was moving pretty slow and we called a local rehabber who would take her in, but I’m not sure that’s the best move yet. I don’t think her leg is broken based on the video my wife just sent me. she is still going to the base of the tree that they live in and getting food every so often. She still goes up the tree if spooked. Mom seems to be in the picture, my wife saw an older squirrel with visible nipples kind of jumping on her? and either biting or cleaning her leg? we thought maybe it was aggressive at first but the little one kept moving toward her so hopefully not.

Id be willing to trap her and get her rehabbed, but it seems possible she could make it. We are planning on leaving nuts seeds and berries by the tree to ensure she won’t starve. anything else we could do? is there a point where we need to trap her? I worry if we try trapping her wed struggle to get her and just trap her family (there are 5 babies). I think my wife would pass away if she did, so I really want her to make it :(

I have a video of her moving on the leg a bit but my internet is spotty atm. I’ll try to post it when I can if that would be helpful.
