Is the perimeter where the floor meets the walls (marked in red) the only place that needs caulking? Also, do the vertical corners where the walls meet need caulk even though they already have grout in them? Should I leave it or remove the grout and replace with caulk?

I just bought a house and I have a question about the corner where my tub meets the wall. I always thought caulking was a soft, flexible material, but the stuff in my tub corner is completely hard — not flexible at all.
Is this already caulked, or is this something else like grout? Did whoever did this use the wrong material? Should it be replaced with actual flexible caulk?
Including pics for reference. Any help appreciated!

Hello all experts out there. I need your help!

I’m a first-time home buyer in New Jersey and just closed on my house. I’m really hoping to learn how to DIY my yard work, but the previous owners let things go a bit and everything is looking pretty overgrown.

I ran some photos through an AI identifier to get a head start, but I’ve heard AI can be hit-or-miss with specific species. I would love a "human" double-check on these IDs and some advice on how to tackle them.

The Plan:
I want to know if I can handle these with basic tools or if I’m at risk of killing the plants (or myself) and should just hire a professional for a "reset" prune.

Here is what the AI suggested:

Img Plant name Use these tools Avoid these tools
1, 7 Holly / Viburnum shrub hedge trimmer loppers hand pruners chainsaw
2 Blue Spruce shrub hand pruners loppers hedge trimmer electric shears
3 Weeping Hemlock hand pruners loppers hedge trimmer electric shears
5 Viburnum / Privet (flowering) hedge shears loppers hand pruners chainsaw
6 Rhododendron loppers hand pruners hedge trimmer electric shears
8 Lilac bush loppers hand pruners hedge trimmer chainsaw

My Questions for you:

  1. Are these IDs correct based on the photos?
  2. For the Spruce and Hemlock (2 & 3), they are quite large—is it safe to DIY prune these without ruining their shape forever?
  3. The Lilac (7) and Rhododendron (5) look woody and thick. Is there a "wrong" time of year to cut these in NJ?
  4. If I do this myself, what is the #1 "newbie" mistake I should avoid?

I’ve attached the photos below. I really appreciate any guidance you can give a nervous new homeowner!

Hello experts out there! Bought a home in NJ and discovered the washer didn’t work. I installed a new washing machine, but it still wouldn’t drain. The plumber I hired said the house had an old-style drain setup (2nd pic with the black hose). After he reworked it, the washer finally drains properly.

Question: Is this actually a proper way to tie a washer drain into the sewer line?

It was done in 30min.. what seemed like a small job, so I want to make sure it was done correctly and safely.

Any feedback from plumbers or homeowners with older NJ houses would help a lot.
