Hey everyone,

I had my gallbladder removed in October 2025, and honestly, the first 5–6 months were pretty normal.

But in the past week, I started getting these short, intense spasms in my right upper abdomen that feel exactly like my old gallstone attacks, which is freaking me out a bit since I don’t even have a gallbladder anymore.

Some details:

  • Pain is in the right upper side, sometimes spreads or feels like pressure/bloating
  • Episodes are short (usually under 10 minutes)
  • Happening multiple times a day (like 2–3 times in 24h)
  • Seems triggered by fatty foods or coffee
  • I also had diarrhea earlier this week, and my gut feels off
  • Sometimes I get lower abdominal cramps too (colon area)

I went to the ER already:

  • Bloodwork came back normal
  • Vitals were fine
  • Pain was gone by the time I was seen

They basically told me everything looked okay, but I’m still getting these spasms.

Has anyone else experienced this months after surgery?

Could this be:

  • post-cholecystectomy syndrome?
  • Biliary spasm/sphincter of Oddi issues?
  • Or just food-triggered gut irritation?

Would really appreciate hearing if anyone has gone through something similar and what helped 🙏
