I am working on a book where one of the MC was groomed as a teenager by a coach and spent several years in an abusive relationship with him. The relationship ended a couple of years before the story starts.
A huge part of the character growth and development is recognizing and accepting that what happened was sexual abuse. They are in therapy at the end, and have been encouraged to file a report with the authorities because it is still within the statute of limitations where they live.
Would it you find the end unsatisfying if the MC is still deciding about filing a report with the authorities at the end of the book? I may be feeling jaded from the continued protection of rich pedos in the Epstein files-- and it is reflected in my character's attitude at the end right now. Rich, white men rarely are held accountable and the MC isn't sure they want to go through the victim blaming etc.
