What does everyone think of the art direction of the black flag remake? I expected it to be faithful to the original, but it seems to be leaning into the style even more than I imagined.

I expected Ubisoft to prioritise realism over everything, as tends to be the case with a lot of AAA studios. While this game looks a lot more realistic than the original, they also seem to have leaned into the more vibrant, cartoon-ish elements from 2013. I think you see this mostly in the combat animations, but even some of the outfits seem to have prioritised vibrant style over realism, which I really appreciate.

I suppose Shadows was likely more stylised than I realised, but I certainly notice the approach to the art direction more in this game and so far I'm really happy with the look of the game.
