I bought slightly longer football boots — what now? ;-; (Need advice)
So, it all started when I lost my football boots during my school team training. The very next day, I had to go for my regionals, so I rushed to a sports shop and bought the Nivia Encounter 11.0s (which I had used before).
At the regionals, some controversy happened and my substitute ended up playing in my position because of it. I only played one half of a game, mostly defending and winning headers. Honestly, I had no major problems while running or playing.
But when I came back, my academy teammates asked me why I was wearing boots that weren’t my size. Being a typical financially middle-class guy, I told them that I’m still growing, so buying a size bigger is normal. But then they told me that wearing your exact size — or even slightly tighter/snug boots — makes your touch and overall feel much better.
That really hit me, because I used to wear tight, snug, comfortable boots before, and they always felt amazing. Even though I played really well in the training game with these new boots, I still feel a huge empty space in the front, especially during long balls and powerful touches. The boots are around 2–2.5 cm longer than my feet. I’ve kind of gotten used to them already, but I’m still worried.
It’s only been 6 days since I bought them. (Also, my birthday is on 22 June, so I’m planning to buy new boots then.)
For now, I just need advice on how to make slightly bigger football boots feel more snug and secure. Any tips?
