Making a new base, flame altar no longer giving +5 comfort level

So finally getting around to making a new base from my starting area, I went up to the top of the Pillars of Creation and put down a flame altar and expanded that altar and built a base. In this new base, I made a wall and roof coverage for the flame altar which is outside my main building but I don't get the +5 comfort bonus. Inside the building I built I have Shelter, Warmth all ticked. If I put down a fireplace and a basic bed, my comfort is now +4 but if the flame altar was working it should be +9. So I have Sheltered, Warmth and Comfort level 4 all ticked.

As a test, I made another flame altar and put that inside my new building which is sheltered and warm but again I am not getting the +5 comfort from the flame altar.

Am I doing something dumb here or is my understanding of +5 from the flame altar wrong? I did a google about the latest patch and it seems that the +5 flame altar should still be working.

Appreciate any thoughts, thanks.

So I just got to Veilwater basin, my home base is still in the starter base and I've just been modifying my basic home here and there to accomodate NPC's, farm animals, planting etc and just learning the game. I have watched a few build guides, I think I know what I want to build but my question is that wherever you build then some enemies will just wander in if you build in the wrong spot right? Do people build outer walls like in Valheim to circumvent this after leveling the flame altar?

Is there a place with nice views where you don't have mobs walking through?

Last question, will enemies walking in ever attack my farm animals?

If you have some good base locations to build from that would be great, dont want to rebuild an existing site. I want to build it from the ground up, thanks in advance.

I've platinumed Seikro, Elder Scrolls..... thats not a flex, I know others have as well but the Fell Dragon is just BS. I never cheese exploits but that fight is BS, jump to the outer mountain on the right hand side, I even dropped boss health percentage and after 3 hours of trying to do it the legit way I'm not even ashamed of myself for doing that. For anyone reading now, it does work after the latest patch
