Parents primed by TTI to believe therapists should violate HIPAA?
To give some context, I am a 25 year old nonbinary adult who survived wilderness therapy at Open Sky at age 18 in one of the young adult groups. I am currently living with my parents again, having graduated college but yet to find a full-time job. My parents just used their financial control over my therapy to fire my therapist for refusing to set up a call with my mom to talk about me. They feel entitled to hearing confidential information about me on account of paying for the service. I am curious if this has any connection to their experience potentially hearing information from the "therapy" sessions at Open Sky. Or honestly maybe it's a continuation of their over-intrusiveness in general, my dad having brought in a list of things he thought I was supposed to be working on in therapy to a former therapist I was seeing prior to going to Open Sky.
Do ya'll have insights into how much information from therapy sessions at TTI programs (especially Open Sky in particular) is passed on to parents?
