I accidentally set a bleach container on my closed toilet lid and it left a double pinkish-yellow ring stain. I then made things significantly worse by applying Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser to it I let it sit for a while and when I went to wipe it away it left a massive bright white cloudy area covering most of the lid, while the original ring is still completely visible underneath. Some BKF also dripped onto the actual seat rim and left two distinct bright white spots there too.

I then tried scrubbing the BKF residue with a wet Magic Eraser which did nothing.

Looking at it in different lighting is hard to tell in the pics. the yellow double ring is prominent and the BKF cloudiness covers a decent area of the lid.

The lid is a Bemis Easy Clean soft-close elongated seat. Replacement is $100+ so I'd really love to save it if possible, and honestly I really don't want to replace it. I'm trying to be eco-friendly and zero waste and sending a perfectly functional toilet seat to a landfill over a cosmetic stain feels terrible.

Is the cloudiness from BKF SOFT CLEANSER recoverable with plastic polish like Meguiar's PlastX? And is the yellow ring likely permanent at this point or is there any hope, even if it's just to fade the stains at least. I'm also not above painting a toilet lid, lol

Any advice appreciated.. be honest with me! 😭
