And how low was your iron? And what are your levels now after your iron transfusions/supplements?

I got my ferritin levels checked and it’s at 14. I checked a note from my doctor and they’re putting in an order for an iron transfusion.
Looking up a few others experience with iron transfusions making them feel shitty, taking the wrong one and bad side effects, or even making them end up in the ER afterwards makes me a little nervous about even getting a transfusion.
I started taking iron pills 65mg with 250mg vitamin c gummies as recommended the last time my levels were this low. They got up to 30 last time eating lots of beans and tofu. But I’ve barely been eating lately due to stress so my levels have dropped again. I know it doesn’t help that I was following a vegan lifestyle/diet. I’ve now gone back to poultry. But red meat has more iron?
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Or what I should be eating to increase my iron levels? Non heme or heme iron rich foods?
