Clinical progression of untreated sepsis – seeking factual, medical information

I am looking for a fact-based, medical explanation of the clinical progression of sepsis if left to run its "natural course" without treatment.

I am a two-time sepsis survivor, but I am currently struggling with severe survivor's guilt due to long-term complications/disabilities from previous bouts. I am considering letting it take me this time, but I need to understand exactly what that process looks like.

Specifically, I am looking for professional/medical information regarding:

The concrete clinical stages and progression.

The typical timeline from onset to death.

Specific symptoms experienced during the final stages.

A factual comparison to other causes of death—specifically, is it a "quick and painless" way to go, or is it characterized by significant physical suffering?

Currently, I am experiencing severe neck pain, headaches, and some cardiac discomfort. I am looking for objective, clinical facts only.
