Here’s my experience with the recent suspension of my X account for “Violating our rules against inauthentic behaviors”:

First of all, my account is marked as NSFW, but that most likely had nothing to do with the suspension itself. Here’s the full timeline of what happened:

• ON APRIL 6TH, I tried logging into my X account through the mobile app. Instead of my feed, I got the message “Your account is suspended” (see screenshot), along with an email saying: “Your account, lowpolyfantasy, was reported and has been suspended for violating the X Rules.” (see screenshot). Apparently, my account was suspended for violating the rules against inauthentic behavior.
• I immediately submitted an appeal IN FRENCH, which is my native language, explaining that the bot probably flagged my account as suspicious BECAUSE ALL MY POSTS FOLLOW THE EXACT SAME TEXT FORMAT — which is completely intentional on my part.
• ON APRIL 17TH, I received the email “We have reviewed your appeal request for account, u/lowpolyfantasy.” (see screenshots), stating that the suspension decision was final.
• THE SAME DAY, I submitted another appeal using the exact same arguments, BUT THIS TIME IN ENGLISH.
• STILL THE SAME DAY, I received another email saying that my account was actually NOT violating the rules and that the suspension would be lifted.
• 72 HOURS LATER, my account was still not restored, so I decided to submit yet another appeal in English. I got an instant reply saying that the suspension had been lifted.
• ON MAY 3RD, my account finally became fully functional again, just like before the suspension.

So yeah, that’s the full story of my adventure trying to get my account back. I basically have 3 pieces of advice for anyone trying to recover a suspended account: submit an appeal, do it in English, and most importantly… be VERY VERY patient.

It took me an entire month without knowing whether I’d ever get my account back.
