Hey everyone! I’d especially love to hear from people who have owned or still own both the El Capistan V1 and V2. Do they really sound the same?

I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube demos, and to my ears the V1 seems to have slightly darker repeats and maybe a nicer tape-style degradation (which, to me, is kind of the magic of the El Capistan). But I’m not sure if that impression is just because of YouTube compression.

So my main question is: side by side, is there actually a noticeable tonal difference between the two?

Here’s my situation:
I use a MIDI setup with a Mastermind PBC10, but I don’t have any extra loops left for the Capistan. Because of that, I need MIDI at least for turning the pedal on/off so it can share a loop with another pedal.

If the V1 truly sounds better than the V2, I’d probably buy a One Control MIDI Solo Stereo Loop (around $100) just to make the V1 MIDI-compatible.

So my final question is:
Is it worth spending the extra $100 to keep the V1 tone, or is it smarter to just get the V2 instead?

Thanks everyone :)
