Hot take incoming, I see in the comment that two people blame Darling for being a neglectful dog owner and parent to Lady and Jim Jr which totally enraged me a lot! She did nothing wrong! Jim was never listening to her the whole time as he pressured her into going on vacation which is why they have to return home to set things straight! All you have to do is listen to what she says. Early, she did influence Jim to be more lenient with Lady and did make her appreciated by showing her Jim Jr. Also in the end, it was Darling who accompanied Jim in letting Lady out to show them the dead rat and that’s how she, Jim and Lady save Tramp by giving him along with four puppies new home for shelter, with some help from Trusty and Jock. Also in the sequel, she became more proactive in launching a search for Scamp by calling the pound, she did learn from her minor mistake by taking charge of the house. Also during the picnic, she protected Jim Jr when Buster caused chaos for the Fourth of July and in fact, she kept her family together by persuading Jim to adopt Angel which can mean that Darling saved Angel from being homeless. That proves that Darling is not a pathetic dog owner or parent as she does whatever she can to keep her family together, as well as being a benevolent mother with no corrupting qualities like almost every Disney parents have. She can also be a sympathetic character who I feel so sorry for. So if three are two Disney parents that deserve to be condemned by history, it would be King Stefan and Queen Leah from Sleeping Beauty as they’re actually a bunch of massive hypocrites as they may be ahead of trying to protect Aurora but NOT their decisions that make them grossly incompetent or blatantly stupid.
