Dog Tracker - tried Pawfit & Tractive
Hi. I know the old "what tracker?" question has been posted a thousand times, but I can't get over the number of people suggesting Tractive.
TLDR: Tractive doesn't work properly imo, nor did Pawfit... Any other suggestions?
We had Tractive a few years ago, the charging system was rubbish (tiny magnet thing that barely fitted when new) so we switched to Pawfit after less than a year, when the charger finally died. Pawfit was a pretty poor replacement, and when we got round to looking at changing it we discovered that Tractive had upgraded the charge system - it now clips on properly - so we went back to it. Bottom line is it loses signal over half the time we're out on a walk, so I've got little confidence it will work when I need it.
We're not in a heavily wooded area, mainly open fields and hedges, and the mobile signal on all networks is pretty good - it just says there's no GPS signal for the collar when I check on the app. I get the tag can slip under her neck when the collar rotates, but she's a fairly small female GSD - I don't think her neck should be sufficient to block the signal should it?
Any suggestions on a different tracker that actually does what it's supposed to?
