for context im a freshman math major at LMU right now. I basically feel like I want to give next cycle another shot since I missed the UC application deadline (didn’t realize it was in december) and kind of didn’t have the confidence to apply to some schools (obviously stupid but here we are). I also want to stay another year because i’m in a service org and literally just got my big, i feel like it’s a really unique thing and love the community it gives me. I also won the sophomore scholarship exam, so i would be turning down an ~18k scholarship plus the 11k i get for all for years (NYU gives no money to transfers) and would no longer be eligible for funding for my summer research project (really important for math because experience is everything and i don’t have any experience with research right now).
i guess my dream scenario is i get in to UCLA next year (im out of state btw), make some friends while being there but also benefit from their great math program and still get to see my friends at LMU. i’m also afraid of moving to NYC and realizing it’s too much for me but not really be able to transfer since it probably looks like prestige chasing.
