I'll try to make this short, but there are a lot of moving parts. I don't know where to turn.
My ex-boyfriend got us joint insurance when I purchased my new car (both our cars were on the insurance, but as separate drivers on our own vehicles. His sister is an agent for travelers and got us a good deal. We broke up, but I remained on the insurance. In December of this year, he told me his ex wife borrowed his truck and was in a fender bender (he said it wasn't a big deal, just a hassle, yada yada) - We were still on speaking terms at this time.
Fast forward to now, and I decided to get my own insurance to be done with all communication with him. In getting quotes it is showing up that I WAS the one in the accident in December... I wasn't even in the state! My new quotes are THROUGH THE ROOF!
His sister said she didn't know why and to handle it myself. Well, I got the "accident claim" And my name was listed along with his truck. There isn't an accident report because I guess they just exchanged insurance information (MY information) and said I was the person it was falling on. $2,900 in damages were paid off.
There isn't any record of the other driver or an accident report. What can I do? Thank you in advance.
