I’m about to move from TX to GA (1,300 miles) and I have a 2025 XL hybrid without the tow package. My wife and I sold all our furniture so we don’t have much stuff to move with. I’m confident I could fit all our belongings in either a 5x8 uhaul trailer or a 10’ box truck. Our stuff will weigh just over 1,000lbs. I’m considering the following options.
A. Rent a 5’x8’ trailer (800lbs) and tow it with my Maverick. I expect the total weight to be about 2,000lbs and we will still have a few things in the cabin/bed.
B. Rent a 10’ u-haul and a vehicle tow trailer to tow my Maverick.
Option B is about $1,000 more expensive, but I’m worried that driving 1,300 miles in TX heat at tow capacity could be bad for my truck. Am I overthinking this or is $1,000 worth not putting that kind of wear on my vehicle?
