Help with purchase - 1998 Toyota Rav4 (2 door, Automatic)
Hi! Does anyone know if there is anything that at first glance looks concerning under the hood of this 1998 Rav4? I will get the car inspected, but I am currently debating whether it's even worth going to see it (it's a few hours from where I live). It's only done about 80,000 miles (the odometer is in km), which concerns me a little, but the body itself seems fine and the undercarriage is supposedly rust free, which I will verify if I actually go see it in person. Also, I have owned two old Rav4s before (one first gen and one 2nd gen, both turned out great), but I really only know how to change oil/fluids at most, and I have always had them serviced by Toyota specialists, hence the need for help haha. If it helps, it just passed its recent 2 year inspection, which is supposed to be quite thorough (I am currently in Germany). Im just usually a bit concerned when I buy from a dealership instead of privately with such an old car. (since they usually cant really tell you the full history of the car and im not sure there is a vin like number to check a cars history over here) I have been trying to find a car that is being sold by the original owner, or at least someone who knows its full history, but it hasn't been that easy. There are not very many 2 door Rav4s in good condition left. Another thing that bothers me is how rusted the wheels look compared to the rest of the car. Would that be something that would make you concerned? Ive always found that old cars that have been well taken care of usually have their original set of wheels in good condition, so I cant square the low milage with how the wheels of the car look, but maybe Im just being silly. Anyways, I would appreciate the help, thank you!
