I’d be really grateful if someone could help me identify which Reader’s Digest volume holds this story.

It was about a young girl who fell down a well. She rescued herself—she found a piece of metal in the bottom of the well and used it to carve hand-holds in the walls, which she used to climb out. I think it was actually non-fiction, possibly part of the Drama in Real Life series. I read it around 1995, when I was 8 or 9—I found it in my parents’ bookshelf. I think they had signed up to receive a collection of the books via mail order (in Australia). The book had a hard cover and gold foil lettering on the spine, it was either a red-brown or green cover, if that’s helpful.
