Planning a 60 second AI video across 7 beats and 35 generated frames
The “generate and pray” workflow was getting pretty brutal.
Once I had dozens of frames, prompts, and exports, I kept losing track of what came from what. So I’ve been messing with planning the whole video on an infinite canvas before doing final video generation.
Left side is the exploration canvas.
Right side is the final beat storyboard.
The main thing I like is being able to branch off an idea, try a few directions, and not lose the previous work. If a variation is bad, I can just go back to the parent frame instead of digging through random folders or prompt docs.
Current project:
- 7 beats / 60s runtime
- 35 generated frames
- full lineage from reference frames to final storyboard
I built this into a small tool for myself because folders and prompt docs kind of fall apart once there are dozens of variations.
Curious how other people are handling shot planning and visual consistency. Reference folders? Notion? Some canvas setup? Or mostly just regenerating until it works?
