"Become a writer" here is intentionally vague. If your definition of writer means published, non published, skilled or non skilled.

Mine would go like this.

1. Write with some measure of regularity.

2. Read with some measure of regularity.

3. Learn how to revise your own work.

4. Learn how to accept and incorporate the feedback of others.

5. Learn how to create cohesive, engaging characters and plot.
