Hi,

My female cat has a bladder stone, as seen by an ultrasound at the vet. I took her when she had blood in her urine, and they diagnosed her with a UTI too. Her UTI is luckily cleared up (no more blood in the urine), and she seems generally in good spirits now, but I suspect she is in some pain because of the stones.

We put her on the special urine diet that helps clear up some types of bladder stones, but I am wondering whether it is best to go straight to surgery. Financially it is affordable, but I am worried about the stress and risks that come with surgery. The vet we talked to seemed to slightly hint surgery was the better option because she won't be in pain for as long. I am leaning towards trying the diet for a month and seeing if that shrinks the size of the stone.

So I am looking for advice here! What would make surgery worthwhile to do now vs. in a month?
