What’s one life insurance opinion you had… that changed over time?

I’ve noticed a lot of strong opinions around term, whole life, IULs, final expense, etc.
Curious—has anyone here changed their perspective over time?
Maybe:
You used to hate a product and now see where it fits
You bought something and later realized it wasn’t right for your goals
You thought insurance was unnecessary when younger
You learned the difference between “investment” and “protection”
Interested in hearing real experiences and what changed your thinking.

I’ve been seeing a lot of debates around term, whole life, IULs, etc., but I’m more curious about real experiences.

For those who already have coverage (or had it in the past):

What’s something you wish you understood before buying?

Did anything surprise you later on?

Would you make a different decision if you could do it over?

I feel like a lot of mistakes don’t come from the product itself, but from not fully understanding what you’re getting or how it fits your situation.

Curious to hear some real perspectives.

Some say they’re misunderstood. Others say they’re oversold.

I’m curious—what’s your experience or opinion on Indexed Universal Life policies? Good tool when structured right, or too complicated for most people?
