Just had my surgery!
Hello everyone! I had my surgery yesterday and I’m pretty sore. I wanted to share my experience of how this all went down to help anyone who needs to hear it. 2 months ago I had my first attack and went to the ER, found out I had one stone. Changed up my diet for a few weeks had no issues. Saw a surgeon who told me my symptoms didn’t sound like gallbladder symptoms because for me my pain isn’t usually just on my right, it’s in my whole chest. But after I had a few more minor attacks. I was going to find a new surgeon but was waiting for the school year to be done to get it removed because I was mostly fine. On Monday, I ate some spicy pretzels (not smart) and had the worst attack to date. I was in so much pain I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I only felt relief standing in the scalding hot shower. I fell asleep in the tub and woke up like an hour later with the pain gone. Next day I went to work as normal and my pee was a bit dark, figured I was dehydrated. Then Wednesday, woke up kinda yellow. I went into work and was going to ask to leave early after I finished my grading. Drove myself to the ER. I had a bilirubin level of 7 and Lipase at 1610. I had jaundice and pancreatitis! Wasn’t in any pain and luckily didn’t need an ECRP because the stone that must’ve been lodged in my bile duct already passed through. This time my scan showed multiple stones so they removed my gallbladder for me yesterday. I’m very relieved that it is gone now lol. I was in a lot of pain yesterday, incisions feel fine but the gas pain sucks. Moral of the story: don’t put off surgery, pay attention if youre yellow and your pee is dark. Any recovery tips are welcome (:
