millipede seems bored; what can i do to help?
before i begin i want to make sure everyone knows i am aware that her occasionally climbing the sides of her enclosure is a normal behavior; i am just a little concerned because the only other time she has done this is when her enclosure was much smaller and it seemed to stress her out (it met the minimum requirements for her size back then too, it just wasn't enough haha)
her enclosure is 12x8 inches, with ~4 inches of soil (she measures 3 inches at the moment). she has a dark place to hide and moss & bark pieces she likes to hide under, and alongside leaf litter and decaying wood i provide sources of protein, vegetables and the occasional fruit treat. i always make sure the soil has the right amount of moisture. i feel like she has everything she needs yet she yearns for more 😅
she will climb at the corner of her enclosure for literal HOURS on end until i pick her up. she normally dislikes being picked up and gets stressed very easily when i pick her up but when she does this she remains completely calm on my hand.
i assume she wants to explore/is understimulated. if that is the case, how can i help? should i provide some things that she can climb, like branches? should i give her more hiding spots (although i dont think that's the issue because she doesnt try to hide under my sleeves or anything)? could there otherwise be something wrong about/in her enclosure somehow? i want to say she maybe just wants to hang out but i know that's not how their brains work haha
she really seems to want to communicate a need she has to me but alas, i do not speak millipede :,)
