Has anyone had a small thrombosed external hemorrhoid / vein take a long time to fully go away?

About 2 weeks ago I noticed a small external lump near the anus after gym activity/running. It was never extremely painful — mostly just a small bluish/purple lump. No bleeding, no major swelling, and I could still sit/walk normally.

The weird part is the timeline. The first week it seemed to improve a lot visually, so on day 8 I lightly worked out again (running + very light weights), and the same vein/lump seemed to swell back up. Since then it has been slowly improving again, but very gradually.

Current situation:
- much lighter color now (more gray/blue than purple)
- less protruding visually
- seems deeper/smaller than before
- still a small round lump on touch
- mild sharp tenderness only if I press on it from certain angles
- no constant pain, burning, or bleeding
- I can work, sit, walk, etc normally

One doctor said it looks like a small thrombosed external vein/hemorrhoid with venous congestion and that it should resolve conservatively.

What worries me is:
- it feels like the last small “core” is not changing much anymore
- there’s also a thicker rope-like vein/tissue leading from it
- I’m worried it became some kind of permanent fibrotic lump or “capsulated” vein

Has anyone had something similar where:
- the acute phase was mild
- but the small leftover lump took many weeks to disappear?
- Did it eventually fully flatten out?
- And were you able to return to gym/running normally afterward without constant flare-ups?

Trying to figure out what’s a realistic timeline here.
