Is a bachelor’s thesis required for research Master’s programs in Germany?
Hi everyone,
I’m applying to research-oriented Master’s programs in Germany and I have a question regarding admission requirements.
I’m from Mexico, and at my university a bachelor’s thesis is not mandatory to graduate. There are multiple degree completion options (thesis, exams, postgraduate studies, etc.), and in my case I chose to graduate through a postgraduate diploma program instead of writing a thesis.
My question is:
Do German universities require a bachelor’s thesis as a strict admission requirement for research Master’s programs? Or is it acceptable to have completed a different form of graduation, as long as I hold an official bachelor’s degree?
I’m especially concerned because I understand that research Master’s degrees may expect prior research experience.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience or knowledge about this.
Thanks in advance!
