I’m currently looking into the process of hopefully starting to stream as a Vtuber, but given how new I am to this whole community I had some questions. I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I thought at the very least someone would be able to point me in the right direction.
I’ve been working on this for a while but only recently thought of the possibility of using a vtuber, so I already have a commissioned character artwork for my profile picture and channel art. I would ideally like my Vtuber to match this design, however she has textured hair and isn’t exactly the standard anime style like most Vtubers are. I’m okay with some slight changes where necessary, but I want her to be recognizable and don’t really think the anime look would fully suit her. I posted the picture of her on here.
Not only that, but I don’t really know exactly what to expect from this process. What’s considered the standard amount of included assets?Where are the best places to look for artists? Do I need to know any specific terminology to communicate my desires properly? When am I asking for too much, or too little? I just need general advice and something to better gauge what to expect, especially with something as non-refundable as an artist commission.
TL;DR, these are my questions.
— Can anyone recommend an artist that can do textured hair and characters in a slightly less anime style?
— What can I expect the normal price range to be for an above the shoulder 2D model and rig? What should be included for that price range?
— Is it better to buy the model and rig separately from different artists or bundled together?
— Where’s the best place to search for trustworthy artists? Do I just have to scroll through tags on social media or is there a better way?
— Should I be looking out for any specific red flags or scammy practices? All business are going to have some scammers, and with AI now it’s even harder to find genuine artists.
— Any general advice or warnings for me as a newbie, both in terms of buying my model and streaming as one? I want to make sure I’m not doing the community or myself dirty unknowingly.
