Today I learned why experienced riders always say to stop in gear and stay toward the side instead of directly behind cars.

I’m a new rider with a Kawasaki Ninja 500, and I remember reading that advice here many times. Today it probably saved me from a very serious accident.

Traffic was stopped, I was off to the side with first gear engaged, and suddenly I saw a truck coming in way too fast without braking. It crashed into around 6 cars behind me, but because I was already positioned to escape, I reacted and moved out in time.

Just wanted to thank this community because small habits like that really matter. As a beginner rider, I understand it even more now.

Ride safe everyone.
