Hi everyone! Hope you can shed some light on this for me. I’m recording some acoustic covers and can’t get the louder vocals and belted parts right. I’ve tried reducing gain on my interface, but it seems to then make the “not belted” parts of a, let’s say, chorus sound very quiet. I’ve tried stepping further from the mic - immediately sound like I’m inside of a tin can. Compressing helps to a degree, but by helping with clipping it seems to take away depth and weight off my voice.

What do you recommend?

My setup is Rode NT1-A, Behringer UPhoria UMC 204 HD and Garage Band.
