Every agency rebranded to include "GEO" (Generative Engine Optimization) in the pitch deck. Some are clearly SEO agencies with a find-and-replace on their landing page. Some might actually be doing something different.

For people who actually worked with a GEO agency that moved the needle: what did they do differently? Not the pitch. The actual work. Trying to separate the real practitioners from the rebrand crowd.

Edit: Thanks, the "can they show a prompt-level delta" filter cut the shortlist in half. Setting up Parse ourselves as a baseline, asking remaining agencies about Signals or Soar integrations on the follow-up calls. Much sharper vetting now.

Head of growth at a 40-person B2B SaaS, former eng background so I'm maybe too obsessed with clean data. Over the last two quarters we've seen a real uptick in "ChatGPT told me about you" showing up in sales call transcripts. The phrase is frequent enough that sales now logs it as a category.

Problem is, it's completely invisible in GA4 because ChatGPT strips referrers.

What I've tried (results in parentheses):

  1. Post-sale survey question on discovery source (noisy, lagging, prospects forget)
  2. UTM trickery (pointless, nobody's clicking a link out of the model)
  3. Correlating brand search lift to known AI mention events (squishy, no causation)

Is there an actual first-class measurement layer for this or are we all just guessing with extra steps? Genuinely asking, my CEO keeps asking for a number.

Edit: Thanks all. Signed up for Parse's free tier to start getting the presence number. Going to pair it with our post-sale survey as described. Will report back on whether the CEO stops asking.
