New Backcountry - Stitching Failure after only 1 Month!

After waiting 6 months for my Backcountry boots, I finally received them on March 23rd.

On initial inspection they looked good, although I did notice the stitching running up the rear seam of the shaft/heel looked a bit loose. At the time I assumed it was just my lack of familiarity with boot construction and didn’t think much of it.

Fast forward to now—after only about a month of light use—the stitching has completely failed, and the two leather pieces are now separating at the heel seam.

I’ve attached photos for reference.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle this from here. Would you:

  • push for warranty repair/replacement and put the burden on the Russell Moc.
    • would they do anything in this case even?
  • attempt a local cobbler repair given the situation?
  • self repair

Any input appreciated, especially from anyone who’s dealt with Russell Moc. or similar rebuildable boots.
