Hello, I am wanting to add horizontal skirting with 1in gaps to cover the bottom of my deck. I plan to build vertical supports using 2x4s (“hung” from the joist rim and supported by the post as well if needed) to support the planned 1x4 boards. For this front area that is 24feet across I plan to use 1x4x12s. Would I need to space vertical supports every 16in? Or can I do less? I am trying to save $ where I can, but if say, 36in spacing will likely lead to warping I’ll add more supports.

I don’t know if it’s important or not but I plan to use 1x4x12 rather than 6 inch decking boards due to the weight reduction.
