i've just started off a strawberry patch in a raised bed. i'm using miracle grow compost & have been watering away for a week or so.
The strawberry's seem to have taken but these things have started to appear.
do i need to be worried?

firstly let me say I don't care about your views on people that got screwed over with the loancharge....
this is a warning to new contractors & those that may get these phone calls post umbrella changes too.
ANY scheme offering to lower your taxes via "alternative pay structures" are lying to you. There is ZERO way for any of us normal plebs to legally lower our tax bills.. it doesn't matter if they say they have "legal & hmrc compliance" - it's bollocks.
we are not accountants & tax experts, your average contractor hasn't read through 6000 pages of the tax code.
The fact that these schemes are still being advertised & calling me show what utter scum they are...
want to get an example? I got caught by loan charge after being told repeatedly that the umbrella company was legal. HMRC got everyone's names and addresses from the scheme & suddenly 6000 of us are hit with tax charges...I comply & get a contract from HMRC that says "even if we lose any subsequent court case regarding these payments, you agree not to register a refund claim".
THEN somehow this is legal in this country.... the trust is bankrupted, a £billion loan book that was sold as "never having to pay back" to the guys who own the trust for £30,000. they then start going after the contractors for payment. that was illegal.
When we lawyer up, the firm (owned by the guys who set the scheme up) sell to another company owned by the same people. This second firm then starts trying to get money & delaying delaying delaying. They THEN sell the loan book to another firm owned by the same people to delay our court case. ALL of this is legal, even though the owners are restricted directors.
THEN to add insult to injury - not only have we paid our taxes that HMRC say we owe, it turns out that they BLOCKED any attempt to mark these loans as NOT loans legally. So the vindictive twats not only marked it down as income, punished the contractors NOT the umbrella firm but ALSO ensures that these umbrella firms could also come after the contractors for "loans" that never existed in the first place and THEY have deemed as income.
The fact that these firms are STILL operating show that they aren't scared of HMRC & that they are safe in the knowledge that they can fuck over ordinary people for £100s of millions while remaining untouched!!
