Server Hosting Help
I am going to go straight to the point. I recently made a dedicated server computer for me and a few buddies to play All The Mods 10 together so I am not paying $30 a month for a server. However, I am now struggling on how I would setup the system; I already installed Ubuntu 24.04. I don't know what panel to use, what to install on the system, how to configure the system, anything. I'll list out what I want to do and what my system specs are.
- The ability to host different worlds/modpacks from the same system
- Easy access from any device or network while keeping my network as safe as possible
- I want the ability later to host a NAS or PLEX off the same system (of course after I upgrade the system)
Here are the specs
- ASUS H-110M Motherboard
- i5-7600k
- 8gb of DDR4 RAM (plan on upgrading when prices aren't insane)
- RX 6650XT (for video encoding or other use)
- Eero Home Network (house runs off eero router and devices)
Now my question to all of you, how should I setup this server and what should I install? I saw a discuss about Puffer Panel vs Pterodactyl, I've already tried installing Pterodactyl but failed, I'm planning on reinstalling the OS to get a fresh start. I just need help with server hosting, nothing with NAS or PLEX just thought it would help to throw that in. What ports do I need to add to my network for these services as well?
I already have a domain setup and want the panel and server to be accessible through that.
