I have purchased a house with a wheelchair platform lift installed. I have contacted the installers who have advised the lift is no longer functional and has had a history of issues. I enquired whether it would be able to be refurbed to be donated to someone in need but have been told that this is not a financially viable option due to age of machine and significant malfunctions over the life of unit.

I have been quoted >$1k to remove and dispose of the unit, however was wanting advice on whether this would be something I could do myself. (the image is not the exact make and model of my unit but is pretty close for reference)
