I will have 3 YoE at a global management consulting firm (front-end). I also have a Tier 1 UG pedigree.

What would McKinsey India or BCG India focus on? Would they be too bothered about my UG CGPA not being 8.5+ despite exemplary performance at my current workplace?

What’re the factors that impact one’s MBB shortlist at ISB PGP?

How big of a role do pre-UG academics (Class X/XII) play in the ISB PGP MBB shortlist? Heard somewhere that 9/9/9, 9/9/8, 9/8/8 profiles aren’t quite a thing at ISB PGP for MBB shortlists because the vast majority of people’s CVs at ISB PGP is about their pre-MBA work experience. I don’t have a single ‘9’ in my profile and one of my Pre-MBA academic credentials (X/XII) is 7. Can a stellar ISB PGP CGPA make up for it?

My UG pedigree is elite-tier and my pre-MBA work experience will be near-elite (right below front-end MBB, bulge-bracket IB, and elite general management like HUL, P&G, and AB InBev) on-campus from my Tier 1 UG institution. My role is very well regarded by MBB too, so that’s good.

Does having a 7 and 8 in Pre-UG (Class X/XII) rule out my chances of an MBB shortlist inside ISB PGP? Somebody told me that I can avoid mentioning the academic credentials from X/XII on my ISB CV. My CV UG onwards is stellar, except my UG CGPA which will be nearly 8.5 on a 10-point scale. Can I get a shortlist on the basis of stellar work experience and elite UG pedigree? My UG CGPA was good/respectable, and so were my ECAs and Positions of Responsibilities from UG. My UG internships were near-elite too.

I am an incoming Tier 2 consulting firm Associate (front-end) from a Tier 1 UG institution. Can’t reveal the firm name, but it’s one of the following: Kearney, L.E.K. Consulting, Strategy&, Alvarez & Marsal, Arthur D. Little, Monitor Deloitte, and EY-Parthenon.

I would be ready to take a position downgrade but can anybody help me understand how lateral hiring works? I wish to make the switch 2-3 years into my current role after working my ass off here.

What’s the usual process in India? How uncommon is it to receive an invite through a referral? Also, among the name firms I have provided, are some ineffective for a lateral hire?

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
