Fire Safety — Any county/state plans/programs incl. grants to replace gas stoves with safer alternatives (electric induction)?
I need to research this; it’s a safety concern particularly for families, but universally. There are too many instances of small fires and would-be fires where the local fire department shows up sometimes with a full ladder truck.
Microwave ovens are a good alternative of course but pose a cost for fixed-income residents and also raise power bills over time depending on wattage / usage patterns.
For those who don’t know, a woman tragically perished at Arrive Apartments from an apartment fire a few short years ago. The building also lacked a central sprinkler system. Always make sure you observe best safety practices and procedures when using your gas stoves/rangetops and review fire safety regularly with your household (and your neighbors, if possible). Only one directly affected resident at the Arrive Apartments fire knew proper protocol and may well have saved other lives.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding fire safety, please post them in this thread!
Will post a link about the Arrive Apartments incident later.
